I hopped on the knitting blog bandwagon because it seemed cool but apparently I am much more into the networking scene (aka ravel-crack) when it comes to needlecraft. However, since I do have this, and my friends do update more than me, I shall try to endeavour (since I now have more internet access!) to post more than, say, once every six months.

In other news, I am really obsessed with socks. Like really. Obssessed. With socks. More on this topic later- really!Helenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01642548446142343713noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2360722835053419076.post-82225877253368053952009-10-22T14:52:00.000-07:002009-10-22T15:24:41.552-07:00wintertime anticipationWell I haven't really completed any project I have personally designed (which is what I hoped I could share in blog form, sigh) and in fact most attempts at it result in frogging and frustration. While I know I can be creative under the right circumstances, it doesn't always translate in knitting, which involves math and patience- in other words, not my strong suits. But winter weather is just around the corner and I'm really enjoying knitting up a few items to keep me (and a few others) warm. My latest accomplishment is knitting these wrist warmers:

All I can say is awesome! The pattern used here is "Accomplice" which is a wonderful choice for beginners- not hard at all but not boring either. The substitute yarn is such that it wouldn't keep anyone's hands warm in a colder climate, but the acrylic blend I used (Red Heart Fiesta #6635 or "Coffee") works here in Texas. Robin Melanson's book Knitting New Mittens & Gloves is really fantastic, minus the super pointy mitten patterns, which I don't get. But the amount of stunningly beautiful projects is well worth the cost of the book so if you are a knitting knerd you must buy it! Yes I'm bossing you around. No, you won't regret it.

Next in mind for trying new garments I've never made before are some gloves for driving (probably will use wool there) as well as some leg warmers so I can continue wearing lovely skirts and dresses all winter long. But suggestions are definitely welcome!Helenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01642548446142343713noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2360722835053419076.post-16580165225395315262009-07-17T10:21:00.000-07:002009-07-17T10:25:03.488-07:00birthdayWhat does it mean to turn 24? Hopefully it means getting a lot of yarn.Helenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01642548446142343713noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2360722835053419076.post-21800095443289997082009-06-04T17:40:00.000-07:002009-06-04T17:58:37.628-07:00hopping on the bandwagonIf you are a knitter chances are you've perused knitting blogs (Yarn Harlot comes to mind) or have at least one knitting obsessed friend who keeps a blog. Well, I've decided to join the masses and jump off the proverbial bridge too. While I can't promise to update a lot, I'm hoping I'll manage a few designs worth sharing with the world- so far they are slow coming but who knows? Hopefully with more crafting practice, creativity will follow.

With any luck, I'll finish my eyelet lace headband with woven rainbow ribbon and be able to post it on here shortly. Yes it's girlie, and yes it's a mouthful. Which is why I love it!Helenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01642548446142343713noreply@blogger.com2
